Mercedes GLC Diesel Intake Manifold Issue

Has anyone experienced jerking during acceleration, check engine light, reduced engine power, or engine stalling in their 2022 Mercedes GLC diesel? The error memory points towards the intake manifold and my mechanic suspects a leaking intake manifold. Is this a common issue, or could it be related to the manifold sensor or a gasket leak in the air intake system? The repair cost is estimated at 1180€.

I had a similar issue with my GLC. I also experienced rough engine running and loss of engine performance. The error pointed toward the intake manifold. Check if the manifold sensor is faulty. A gasket leak would also cause similar symptoms with the air intake. Are you sure it's scorching and not just a manifold sensor issue?

That's helpful. How did you confirm it was the intake manifold and not just the manifold sensor? Was there anything specific you looked for or tested? And what about the gasket leak, how did you rule that out?

My mechanic checked the manifold sensor first, which seemed okay. Then, he did a smoke test to check for a gasket leak. When that didn't show anything, he inspected the intake manifold more closely and found visible cracks. If you are unsure, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop.

I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out it was the intake manifold, as initially suspected. They replaced it, along with the gaskets, and the car is running much better now. Engine performance is back to normal, and the error is gone. That gasket leak was indeed the culprit.
