Mercedes GLE Air Conditioning Problem

I am uncertain whether the refrigerant level was explicitly checked before the diagnosis of compressor failure The mechanic did mention the error code specifically pointed to the compressor As for the AC compressor relay and fuse, I did not specifically inquire about those components Could a faulty relay or fuse genuinely mimic the symptoms of a failed compressor, including the error code

With my Corsa, the error code pointed towards the compressor too, but turned out to be a dodgy relay A bad relay can definitely cause the compressor not to kick on, hence the lack of cooling and potentially triggering a fault code However, if the mechanic is reputable and the error code definitively points to a failed compressor, it’s probably best to trust their diagnosis Getting a second opinion never hurts though Might be worth getting a quote from a Mercedes specialist

I followed your advice and took the vehicle to a trusted workshop They confirmed the initial diagnosis of a defective air conditioning control unit and subsequent refrigerant compressor failure The repair was completed as quoted at 980€, and the vehicle's air conditioning system is now functioning correctly Thank you again

That sounds frustrating I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa My AC just quit working one day Did they actually check the refrigerant level before condemning the compressor Sometimes it's just a leak Also, did they check the AC compressor relay and fuse Those are usually cheap and easy fixes
