Mercedes GLE audio failure resolved
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Mercedes GLE experienced complete audio failure, with no sound from any source. Initial suspicion was on the bass speaker, but advice suggested checking the amplifier in the rear cargo area for potential issues like water damage or a short circuit. Upon further inspection and professional diagnosis, the problem was confirmed to be a defective bass speaker, which caused the system to shut down as a protective measure. The issue was resolved with a repair costing 280€.

Thanks for the tip. Where is the amplifier located? Is it easily accessible, or will I need to remove panels? Also, were your symptoms the same, complete audio loss from all sources?

The amplifier is behind the trim panel on the left side of the cargo area. You'll need to remove some panels. Yes, complete audio loss. After checking the amp, consider a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly.

I checked the amplifier as suggested and took it to a shop as you recommended. Turns out the bass speaker was defective, causing the system to shut down as a protection measure. Repair cost was 280€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I had a similar issue with my GLE. Check the amplifier in the rear cargo area. It might have gotten wet or shorted out. That killed my entire audio system. Look there before assuming it's the bass speaker.
