Yes, the error code mentions the lock-up clutch in the automatic transmission. It points towards the torque converter. Was that the issue in your case as well Was the auto transmission converter defective for you too

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's helpful to know someone else had a similar issue. I've booked it in for a diagnosis. It turned out to be a defective automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch. The grinding noises when shifting gears were a telltale sign. I'm going ahead with the repair.

That sounds concerning. I also own a GLE, though an older model. I had similar symptoms a while back: the check engine light, slipping gears, and a strange surging sensation. I wonder, did the error code specifically mention the lock-up clutch
