Mercedes GLE hybrid system reports overvoltage

My 2022 Mercedes GLE hybrid is reporting overvoltage The car has covered 28605 km Symptoms include numerous fault memory entries related to this overvoltage, resulting in the failure of various vehicle systems Starting the engine is difficult due to a weak battery and I'm experiencing general electrical malfunctions I suspect it may be related to a heavily discharged or defective car battery Could alternator failure or a power surge be the cause? I hope circuit protection is still intact Has anyone experienced such issues?

I had a similar issue with my GLE Lots of spurious fault codes and weird electrical behavior I would check the car battery first Modern cars are very sensitive to voltage drops A weak or failing battery can cause all sorts of problems Before you start thinking about alternator failure or high voltage issues, get the battery load tested Do you have access to a multimeter?

Thank you for the advice I appreciate your insight that a weak battery can trigger such widespread errors When you experienced similar symptoms, did the diagnostic tools specifically point to overvoltage, or were there other error codes as well? I am trying to comprehend if overvoltage is the underlying issue or just a symptom of something else Also, did you perform the battery load test yourself, or did a professional do it?

The diagnostic tool did log overvoltage codes, along with a bunch of other seemingly unrelated errors It really did seem like a ghost in the machine I would not exclude the possibility of a defective voltage regulator on the alternator I had a shop do the battery load test using professional equipment Given the complexity of the hybrid system, it is better to let a professional do it If the battery is good, they can check the alternator output and look for other potential problems In my case it was the car battery causing all the issues

I appreciate you sharing your experience It was indeed the car battery, as you suggested After replacing it, the overvoltage errors disappeared, and all systems are now functioning normally The repair cost 290€ Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction
