Mercedes GLK Diesel Engine Trouble

My 2015 Mercedes GLK Diesel has poor starting and reduced power. There's an error stored. Could a camshaft sensor failure cause timing issues and rough idling, triggering the check engine light? Is 95€ a reasonable repair cost?

Those symptoms do point to a potential camshaft sensor issue. Before replacing it, check the crankshaft position sensor, as problems there can mimic camshaft sensor symptoms. What's the exact error code? Also, was the cable and plug visually inspected and tested for continuity?

I haven't checked the crankshaft position sensor, but I will. I'll get the error code soon. The visual inspection of the cable and plug didn't show damage, but there was no continuity testing. Does the lack of a crankshaft sensor error code rule it out?

The absence of a specific crankshaft sensor error code doesn't eliminate it. Intermittent faults can occur without a code. Prioritize continuity testing on the camshaft sensor wiring. If the wiring is sound and the error persists, consider replacing the camshaft sensor. If you're not comfortable with the repairs, take it to a qualified workshop.

I brought the car to a certified Mercedes-Benz workshop. It was a defective camshaft sensor. The cable and plug connections were fine. The sensor was replaced, and the engine runs well now. Thanks for the help.
