Mercedes GLK System Readiness Issue

My 2008 Mercedes GLK with a gasoline engine presents an incomplete system readiness check. Mileage is 131169 km. An error is stored in error memory, and an error message is displayed in the speedometer. The vehicle was recently read out via OBD2 diagnostics. I suspect a computer reset is needed. Thoughts before I schedule a vehicle inspection?

Ah, the dreaded incomplete system readiness. You're seeing the check engine light, yes? Basically, the onboard diagnostics haven't all run since the last computer reset. Could be anything from a disconnected battery to, as you suspect, the OBD2 scan tool removing the data. Have you tried driving it a bit? Sometimes they just need time to cycle through all the tests. What monitors are showing as incomplete?

Define 'driving it a bit'. Do you mean a specific drive cycle, or simply accumulating mileage?

Yeah, it's probably not a mechanical issue. By 'driving it a bit' I meant completing a drive cycle. But honestly, it might just clear up on its own after a week or so of normal driving. Unless you need an immediate vehicle inspection, I'd advise waiting. If it persists, a workshop visit is probably unavoidable.

Thank you for the confirmation. No workshop visit was necessary. The system readiness cleared itself after several drive cycles. No cost incurred.
