Mercedes GLS System Readiness Issue

I did clear the codes after the diagnostics. Could you elaborate on 'properly addressing the underlying issue'? I was under the impression that clearing the codes would reset the system. Are there specific conditions that need to be met for the system readiness to complete its checks following a computer reset?

Clearing the codes doesn't always fix the problem, it just hides it temporarily! Think of it like turning off the check engine light without actually fixing what caused it to come on. The system readiness tests need to run and pass after you clear the codes. Usually, that involves driving the car under specific conditions – like a certain speed for a certain amount of time. If the problem is still there, the tests won't complete, and you'll get that incomplete readiness status. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to run a more comprehensive diagnostic and pinpoint the issue.

A visit to a qualified workshop was the prudent course of action. The issue was resolved with a simple software installation to the ECU, ensuring all system readiness checks passed. The repair was covered under warranty, resulting in no cost.

That's frustrating! I had something similar happen with my GLS. The OBD readiness thing can be a real pain. Did you clear any codes after you did the diagnostics? Sometimes just clearing them without properly addressing the underlying issue can cause the system readiness to go incomplete. The computer needs to run all its self-tests, and if something is flagged, it won't complete. Did you check for any other pending codes?
