Good question I will check that If it's not showing neutral, are we talking a simple sensor replacement, or is it more likely the whole control unit is shot Trying to gauge how deep I'm going to be digging into my pockets

Based on my experience, if the instrument cluster does not reflect the correct gear position, the control unit itself is often the culprit, particularly with the symptoms you described While a sensor replacement is possible, the control unit is the more probable cause of your automatic transmission problem Considering the error codes and shifting issues, a workshop diagnostic evaluation is advisable

I appreciate the insight It does sound like the control unit I'll take it to a workshop Thanks for the heads up I took your advice and went to the workshop, they confirmed the control unit was defective After replacing it, the car works as expected now The transmission issues are gone

I am familiar with similar transmission issues on the Mercedes M Klasse Does the instrument cluster indicate the neutral position when the gear selector is in park If not, the issue may stem from a faulty transmission control module or a malfunctioning gear position sensor
