Mercedes M Klasse Diesel Overheating and Air Flap Issue

My 2014 Mercedes M Klasse diesel has a check engine light and is overheating A diagnostic scan showed a fault code related to the active air flap The service center quoted 590€ for the repair Is this a reasonable estimate

I own a similar Mercedes M Klasse I recall a related cooling system issue Did the diagnostic scan pinpoint the specific fault code associated with the air flap Is the flap stuck open or closed Do you notice any performance issues besides the overheating

The diagnostic scan provided a specific fault code, but I don't have it right now I didn't observe if the flap was stuck Besides the overheating and check engine light, I've noticed a slight decrease in fuel economy Could a faulty flap motor cause these symptoms

Those symptoms align with a defective flap motor In my case, the check engine light and overheating pointed to the active air flap malfunctioning Given the reduced fuel economy, it's likely the flap isn't operating correctly, impacting engine temperature and efficiency I suggest proceeding with the repair and getting a second opinion

Thanks for sharing your experience I took my vehicle to the workshop The flap motor was indeed defective and was replaced The cooling system is now working, the check engine light is off, and the vehicle is no longer overheating The final cost was in line with the initial estimate I appreciate the assistance
