Mercedes ML active hood fault
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Mercedes ML diesel displayed an active hood fault message, with the airbag warning light on and a stored fault in the error memory. The issue was suspected to be caused by a defective acceleration car sensor, which was confirmed after inspection. The sensor was replaced, resolving the active hood fault and airbag light issues.

When you say 'not sitting quite right,' what do you mean exactly? Was it visibly misaligned, or was it more subtle? I'll definitely take a closer look at the hood latch mechanism

For me it was very subtle The hood appeared closed, but maybe one side was a hair higher than the other Enough to possibly mess with the sensor readings But I would still suggest a proper diagnostic at the workshop, just to be sure These safety systems can be tricky

I inspected the hood latch, but it seemed fine I took it to the workshop as you suggested It was the acceleration car sensor! I replaced it, and the active hood fault and airbag light are gone I appreciate the help!

I've seen something similar on my ML I'm not sure about the exact cause in your case, but is the hood latch itself functioning correctly? I had a weird issue where the hood wasn't sitting quite right, and it triggered some odd car safety warnings It could be worth checking before you start replacing car sensors
