Mercedes ML parking assist fault

My 2010 Mercedes ML hybrid is showing a parking assist fault at 235955 km. The parking assistant is dead, and the error memory is full. I suspect a faulty connection. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking it might be the cable or a plug. Obstacle detection and the rearview camera are also not working. Could it be the control module?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my ML. Did you check the wiring harness near the rear bumper? That's where mine was acting up. Was the rearview camera also affected?

Rear bumper wiring, huh? I'll give that a look. And yes, the rearview camera is black. Was yours completely out too, or just glitching?

Yes, the camera was black. Given the symptoms and the stored error, faulty wiring is a prime suspect. Can you fix it yourself? Otherwise, I'd suggest getting it checked professionally to avoid further damage.

Thanks for the tip about the rear bumper wiring. It turned out to be exactly that a corroded connector. A quick clean and some dielectric grease later, and everything's back online. I appreciate the help!
