Mercedes R Klasse Air Supply Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Mercedes R Klasse is experiencing a check engine light due to a fault in the air supply system, specifically related to the air valve. The suspected cause is a defective hose connection from the pump to the valve, potentially leading to a vacuum leak and affecting manifold pressure. It is advised to inspect the vacuum hoses for cracks or loose connections, and professional evaluation is recommended to resolve the issue.

Could you elaborate on which specific vacuum hoses you are referring to? Were there any particular symptoms beyond the check engine light that you experienced?

It was the hoses running from the air pump to the air valve itself. If I recall, I didn't notice any performance issues, just the light. Given the complexity, I had a workshop inspect it. Best to get it checked professionally.

I appreciate the confirmation. I will schedule an appointment with a qualified technician for a thorough examination. The hose connection from pump to valve was indeed defective. The repair cost came to 175€.

I had a similar issue with my R Klasse. Check the vacuum hoses connected to the air valve. Cracks or loose connections can definitely cause a vacuum leak, triggering the check engine light. It might be affecting the air supply to the engine.
