Mercedes R Klasse Diesel Oil Sensor Issue

My 2010 Mercedes R Klasse diesel is throwing error messages The speedometer says oil level sensor faulty and the error memory confirms it Plus the oil pressure warning lamp is lighting up intermittently The car has done 53289 km I suspect it's a faulty oil signal or sensor issue I've checked the oil gauge and it seems fine Could it be a defective cable or plug connection Has anyone dealt with this kind of faulty sensor before

Sounds familiar I had a similar oil signal problem with my old Vauxhall Corsa a few years back Kept getting a warning light Did you check the sensor itself for any visible damage or corrosion

Thanks for the quick reply I haven't pulled the sensor out completely yet Where exactly was the sensor located on your Corsa And how did you figure out it was the problem

On the Corsa it was near the oil filter Honestly I didn't figure it out myself I took it to a workshop and they diagnosed it pretty quickly Given all the warnings you're getting it might be worth getting it checked professionally Save yourself some headache

You were right Took it to a local mechanic and it turned out to be a corroded connector on the oil level sensor They cleaned it up replaced a small section of the cable and the errors are gone The entire repair including diagnosis cost around 95€ Thanks for the advice
