No, I didn't clear any codes, I just read the error memory So, even just reading it can mess things up? What exactly is a drive cycle and how do I complete one?

Reading the codes shouldn't have caused that With my Saab, simply disconnecting the battery would cause the same thing because it would reset some of the diagnostic monitors A drive cycle is a specific set of driving conditions that allows your car's computer to run self-tests on various systems It varies depending on the make and model, but usually involves a mix of highway and city driving, acceleration, deceleration, and idling Honestly, finding the exact drive cycle for your Mercedes can be tricky You might find some info online, but it's often vague The best bet would be to bring it to a shop with proper car diagnostics equipment to force the computer reset and then just drive it normally for a bit They can guide you on the specific driving pattern if needed

I appreciate the help I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed They did a computer reset and suggested a specific drive cycle, but simply driving it normally for a few days sorted it System readiness is now complete No cost

Sounds familiar I had a similar thing happen with my old Saab The OBD readiness monitors weren't set after I cleared some codes Basically, the car's computer needs to run through a series of tests, a drive cycle, to confirm everything is working correctly before it shows as ready Did you clear any codes recently?
