Mercedes R Klasse Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Issue

Engine warning light on my 2013 Mercedes R Klasse Diesel I scanned the error memory and it's showing a transmission oil pressure sensor fault Could low oil cause this

A transmission oil pressure sensor fault on a 7G-Tronic The symptoms you're describing definitely point to something amiss within the transmission The pressure sensor monitors the oil pressure, which is crucial A low oil level can absolutely cause a pressure sensor fault Low fluid means the pump isn't getting enough oil Is it always the cause Not always, but it's the first and easiest thing to check Have you verified the oil level yet What did it read

I haven't checked the oil level myself I'm not entirely sure where the dipstick is located on this transmission, or if it even has one Is it something easily accessible, or do I need special tools

Checking the transmission fluid level on your 7G-Tronic isn't straightforward Many of these transmissions don't have a traditional dipstick You often need a special dipstick tool, and you check the level through the overflow tube Given the symptoms and the sensor fault, and the fact you're not familiar with the procedure, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a workshop They can properly check the fluid level, check for leaks, and diagnose the sensor fault accurately Continuing to drive it in this condition could cause further damage and more expensive repairs

I took it to a local workshop, and you were right, the oil level was low They topped it off, replaced a leaky seal, and cleared the fault codes So far, so good The total cost came to 365€ Hopefully, that's the end of it Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction
