Mercedes S Klasse Auxiliary Heater Problem

My 2011 Mercedes S Klasse with a gasoline engine and 252067 km is having auxiliary heater issues The parking heater won't start and the car shows an error I've checked fuses but no luck Could it be the heater core ventilation system heat control or a coolant leak Any ideas

That sounds familiar I had a similar issue with my old Audi A6 The parking heater wouldn't kick on and it turned out to be the glow plug Is the error message you're getting possibly related to that

Glow plug I didn't even think about that Where is that located And how difficult is it to replace Because I am not really mechanically inclined

On my Audi it was a pain to get to but it might be different for your Mercedes Given that and that you are saying you are not that into turning wrenches I would take it to a shop If it is the glow plug expect to pay around 440€ Good luck

I appreciate the tip I took it to my local shop and you were spot on it was the glow plug They replaced it and the auxiliary heater is working perfectly again Cost me about 440€ just like you said At least now I can preheat the car in the winter Thanks again
