Mercedes S Klasse Hybrid Engine Light and Fuel Consumption Issue

My 2022 Mercedes S Klasse Hybrid has an illuminated check engine light, a stored error code, and increased fuel consumption at only 10690 km. Diagnostics point to a possible oxygen sensor issue in the exhaust. Could a bad cable or plug connection cause these symptoms and affect the air-fuel ratio?

An aged oxygen sensor could be the reason. I had a similar issue with my S Klasse. Did you check the sensor's electrical connections for corrosion or looseness?

When you had this issue, did you notice exhaust sensor reading fluctuations, and did diagnosing the air-fuel ratio require special tools?

Yes, I saw fluctuations. While you could try diagnosing it, I'd suggest a workshop. They can pinpoint the fault. Sounds like the same problem I encountered.

The problem was a faulty exhaust system connection affecting the sensor. Replacing the oxygen sensor for 95€ fixed it, and fuel consumption is normal again.
