Mercedes S Klasse Hybrid Oil Pressure Issue

The oil level is within the acceptable range. Is there a reliable method to ascertain the oil pressure sensor's proper function, or is replacement the most expedient course of action? I would like to rule out all possibilities before an oil pump replacement.

Honestly, figuring out if the sensor is bad without proper tools is tricky. Replacing it might save some time. But those engine noises worry me. With my BMW, I messed around trying to fix it myself for too long. The engine bearings were shot and it ended up costing me more. Maybe get it checked out at a workshop before you cause more damage.

Given the potential for severe engine damage, I have decided to entrust the vehicle to a qualified technician. The workshop diagnosed a faulty oil pump, and I authorized the repairs. The total cost amounted to 755€. Thank you again for sharing your experiences and preventing a potentially catastrophic outcome.

Sounds like a nasty problem. I had something similar with my old BMW. The oil pressure gauge was going crazy, and the engine didn't sound happy. Have you checked the simple stuff first, like the oil level? Could also be a faulty oil pressure sensor, but those noises you're hearing make you wonder.
