Mercedes SL fuel flap issue

Thanks for the tips. I did check the fuses, but I will double check them again. Where exactly is the cable release located? And is there a way to manually release the fuel filler flap in the meantime?

The cable release location can vary, but usually, it's accessible from inside the trunk, often behind a side panel. You might need to consult your owner's manual for the exact location. If you can't find a manual release, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked at a workshop. Forcing it open could damage the mechanism further, and with other functions being affected, it could be a bigger electrical fault than just the fuel filler.

Took it to the shop. You were right, it was indeed a fault with the electric actuator. The repair cost me 210€ Thanks for your help!

Hey there, sounds like a pain. I had a similar issue with my Mercedes CL, although it wasn't a fuel flap problem specifically, but another electric release mechanism. Check the cable release first. Sometimes they get stretched or disconnected. Also, have you tried checking the fuse box? A blown fuse could definitely cause the electric actuator to fail. Is the central locking system behaving normally otherwise?
