Mercedes SLC diesel transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mercedes SLC diesel is experiencing serious transmission errors at 106,453 km, including implausible shifting and being stuck in emergency mode. The suspected cause is undervoltage, but worn transmission oil is also considered a potential factor. The solution involved confirming the undervoltage issue and replacing the worn transmission oil, which resolved the problem and restored normal shifting.

The slipping was subtle, almost unnoticeable, then BAM, emergency mode. I haven't checked the oil level yet; honestly, I was more focused on the error codes. You think just low oil could cause all this?

Could be low, could be worn out. In my case, it turned out to be both, and likely tied to an electrical issue causing the undervoltage. But honestly, with those symptoms, isn't a trip to a trusted shop in order? Save yourself some potential headaches.

You were spot on. Took it to the shop, undervoltage situation confirmed, and the automatic transmission oil was indeed knackered. Oil replacement and electrical fix cost me 240€. Shifts like new now. Thanks for the nudge!

Sounds familiar. I had similar automatic gearbox issues with my SLC. Was the slipping transmission noticeable before the light came on? Did you check the transmission oil level before considering a replacement?
