Mercedes SLC Fuel Flap Release Issue

My 2017 Mercedes SLC with a gasoline engine has a fuel flap release malfunction around 141656 km. The error memory has a stored error, and neither locking nor unlocking works. Other vehicle functions are also unavailable. Could a defective linkage be the cause, and what diagnostic steps can I take before a 210€ repair? I know the fuel door system uses a cable release and an electric actuator.

That's frustrating! The electric actuator or its wiring is the prime suspect, especially with the error code and unavailable functions. Do you hear any noise when you try to open the fuel flap, like a faint clicking? Have you checked the fuses for the central locking or convenience features? A blown fuse could disable the actuator. The cable release might be jammed or disconnected. Has the car been serviced recently, perhaps something was disturbed?

Thanks for the response. I don't hear clicking. I haven't checked the fuses yet; can you tell me which fuse controls the fuel flap release or central locking in a 2017 SLC? Is there a diagram, and could the release mechanism itself be faulty and need replacing?

Without specific electrical diagrams for your vehicle, I can't pinpoint the fuse location. The owner's manual should have fuse box diagrams, or consult a Mercedes-Benz service manual. Yes, the electric actuator within the release mechanism could have failed internally, requiring replacement. Given the complexity, potential for trim damage, and the error codes, wouldn't it be best to have a qualified technician diagnose the system? A diagnostic scan could isolate the fault to the actuator, wiring, or control module.

I appreciate your advice. I took the vehicle to a workshop, and the diagnosis confirmed a faulty electric actuator within the fuel flap release mechanism. Replacing the actuator fixed the issue, and the other vehicle functions returned to normal. The repair cost was about what I expected. Thanks again for your insights.
