Mercedes Sprinter fault code issue

My 2000 Mercedes Sprinter with a diesel engine is throwing a fault code. I'm getting an error message on the infotainment system and the speedometer. Mileage is at 174954 km. Any ideas? I ran a diagnostic scanner and it suggests incorrect vehicle coding. I cleared the fault code but the engine light reappeared.

Incorrect coding, you say? I had a similar issue with my Sprinter. Does the check engine light come on immediately after you reset codes, or does it take a while? Have you tried to check if all modules are properly communicating with each other?

Thanks. I took it to a workshop and you were right; it was a coding issue. They recoded it, and the fault code is gone. Cost me 360€. Appreciate the help!
