Mercedes V Klasse ABS Fault Advice Needed
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Mercedes V Klasse is experiencing an ABS fault, with the ABS light on and traction control impaired. The diagnostic tool indicates a speed signal fault, but checks on the ECM and speedometer input show no issues. The problem likely lies within the ABS control unit itself, and despite attempts to avoid high repair costs, the solution involves replacing the control unit, which resolves the issue.

Yes, I checked the odometer reading, and it matches what the ECM is showing What else could cause this if the input from the speedometer and the odometer readings are correct Is there a specific pin or connection on the control unit I should inspect more closely

Given that the odometer reading matches and the speedometer input seems correct, a faulty ABS control unit becomes even more probable There are no simple solutions I could explain here I would strongly advise against poking around individual pins on the control unit without proper diagnostic equipment and expertise You'll need to take it to a reputable workshop for further testing and repair

I appreciate the advice I was hoping to avoid it, but it sounds like I'm in over my head I will get it to a workshop Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the control unit and keeping me from doing something stupid and making things worse It ended up costing me about 1000€ to replace the ABS control unit, and now everything seems to be working fine

A speed signal fault on a V Klasse often points to issues within the ABS control unit itself Have you checked the odometer reading against what the ECM is registering Discrepancies there might indicate a deeper problem with data transmission It's a complex system
