Mercedes V Klasse air intake leak

My 2005 Mercedes V Klasse with a gasoline engine is having issues. It has 222304 km. I think it's an air intake leak. Fuel economy is down, the check engine light is on, and there's a hissing sound when accelerating. The air filter box looks okay. Could this be an intake hose issue? Could that cause engine misfire?

Those symptoms sound like what happened with my V Klasse. Hissing when accelerating, bad fuel economy, and the check engine light all point to an air leak in the intake. Have you thought about leak detection methods? A damaged intake hose could be the problem.

Thanks for the input. Which part of the air intake should I check for leaks? Did you find the leak yourself, or did you go to a shop? I want to keep costs down.

I found the leak in the big intake hose from the air filter to the engine. Since you hear hissing when accelerating, check that hose and its connections closely for cracks or loose clamps. You might find it yourself, but I'd suggest a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I found a cracked intake hose, just like you said. I replaced it, and the problems are gone. The repair was about 100€. Thanks again for the help.
