Mercedes V Klasse Diesel Water Sensor Issue Resolved

My 2004 Mercedes V Klasse diesel has the check engine light on. Car diagnostics points to a water sensor malfunction and the engine runs rough. The car has done 184871 km. I'm wondering if it could be a faulty cable or plug connection.

I had a similar sensor issue with my old BMW. The malfunction indicator was constantly on. Have you tried testing the sensor to rule out a defective unit? It could be the sensor itself and not the wiring.

Sensor testing? What does that involve and how do I do it?

I didn't mean testing it yourself. I took mine to a workshop. They read the error memory and the mechanic said it was most likely the sensor. I'd suggest checking the error memory, and if it points to the sensor, then start looking at the cable and plug connections.

Thanks. You were right. Car diagnostics confirmed the cable connection was defective. The repair cost 95€.
