I haven't checked the wiring or vacuum lines yet. I'm not experienced with turbochargers. Is it easy to check those? Where should I look for the vacuum lines? I don't know how old the diverter valve is. Can I test it?

Checking vacuum lines means visually inspecting them for cracks or looseness. They're small rubber hoses connected to the turbo and intake manifold. To test the diverter valve, remove it and check for tears or diaphragm damage. Without tools and knowledge, a workshop is best. Your symptoms suggest a boost pressure issue, likely a faulty actuator valve or sensor. Driving it could damage your turbocharger.

I took it to a workshop, and it was a defective electrical bypass valve for the turbocharger, as I suspected. The repair cost 250€. The car runs smoothly again. I appreciate the help!

That sounds familiar. My old Volvo V70 diesel had similar symptoms: reduced power, whistling, and the check engine light. It was a faulty boost pressure sensor. Have you checked the wiring and vacuum lines for the turbocharger system? A leak could cause that. How old is your diverter valve?
