Mercedes Viano Audio System Failure

My 2001 Mercedes Viano diesel with 242322 km has a completely dead audio system. Diagnostics show a stored error. I think the display is bad. Has anyone seen this, maybe with speaker crackle, Bluetooth issues, or car speaker or dashboard control problems that kill the sound? Is this likely to cost the 725€ I was quoted?

I had something similar with my old Saab. The head unit slowly died. Audio went bad, then dashboard controls quit. Finally, nothing. Check the fuses first, then suspect the display.

Thanks. When you say check fuses, do you mean just the audio ones, or something more like a CAN bus fuse? Also, did your Saab have speaker crackle before it died?

Start with the audio fuses. Speaker crackle wasn't happening for me. With the stored error, a workshop check might be best. Intermittent problems are hard to find alone.
