Mercedes Viano Defrost Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Mercedes Viano owner experienced an error related to the defrost air distribution flap, resulting in low heating output and worsening windshield fogging. Suspecting a faulty cable or plug connection, the owner considered accessing the dashboard panel to investigate. After consulting with others, the issue was confirmed to be a dodgy connection to the defrost flap, which was resolved by a local garage, restoring normal heating and clearing the fogging issue.

What was the fix on your Focus? Was it definitely the air distribution flap? And how much did it set you back? I'm trying to gauge if it's worth tackling myself or just biting the bullet and going to a shop.

Yeah, it was the flap motor in my Focus. Ended up taking it to a workshop. Best bet is to get it checked before you mess with it yourself.

Took your advice and went to a local garage. Turns out it was a dodgy connection to the defrost flap, just like I suspected. They charged me 95€ to sort it. Heating is back to normal, and the windshield fogging has cleared. Appreciate the input.

Sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my old Ford Focus. The ventilation system was acting up. Check the easiest things first.
