Mercedes Vito 2021: ABS system and power steering not working properly - advice wanted

Hey guys, I have a question about my 2021 Mercedes Vito Diesel with 73,762 km mileage. Recently my ABS system and power steering stopped working properly and my steering wheel is vibrating. A real bump in the road, I tell you! I thought it might be due to a signal error in the electric power steering. Have any of you had similar problems and how did you deal with it at your mechanic? After my last bad experience, I'm a bit cautious. Looking forward to your answers!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Mercedes Sprinter. In my car, it was the control unit that was faulty. It was causing trouble with ABS and power steering, just like you describe. It was a serious issue as the ECU is practically the brain of the car. The mechanic had to replace the old control unit and install a new one. After that, everything ran like clockwork again. It may not be a simple solution, but at least it helped me. Hope this helps you.

Hey, thank you so much for the info! Interesting that you had the same thing. Now that you've had the ECU changed, could you tell me how deep you had to dig into your pocket? Approximate amount will do. Have you had any further problems since the repair or is it limited? I'm looking forward to your feedback.

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! The new control unit cost me €415. I know that's a lot of money, but the car has been in top shape ever since. And the issue with the signal error in the electric power steering? That also went away after I took the car to the mechanic. So everything is much better since I had the repair done. No more problems. Hope this helps you and fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly for you!

Hey, that's a relief to know! 415 euros is certainly not a small amount, but if it helps to get the car going again, I'm willing to pay it. In the end, it's important that nothing worse happens, isn't it? Thanks for all the useful info and good wishes. I'm going to put my wariness of mechanics aside and get the ECU checked/replaced. Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys!
