Mercedes X Klasse Active Hood Fault

The diagnostic report does indicate a high probability of the acceleration sensor being the culprit. Wiring seems intact upon visual inspection. Control unit, you say? Is that a common failure point, and would that also trigger the airbag warning?

Yes, the control unit failure is not unheard of. It could affect multiple systems, explaining the airbag warning. Given the diagnostic report and your visual inspection, replacing the acceleration sensor seems like the logical next step. But given the car safety implications, I'd strongly suggest having a workshop confirm the diagnosis before replacing any parts. Do you really want to risk the pedestrian safety system?

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate the input. I took it to a trusted mechanic, and you were spot on; replacing the acceleration sensor for 315€ did the trick. The error is gone, and both the active hood and airbag systems are functioning correctly again.

I've seen similar issues on the X Klasse. The active hood system fault can be quite persistent. Does the error memory specifically point to the acceleration sensor? I would check the wiring and connections to the sensor first. Could also be a faulty control unit.
