Mercedes X Klasse emergency call malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Mercedes X Klasse displayed an emergency call system malfunction, with an error message and warning light on the speedometer. This issue can be caused by a defective cable or plug connection, which can trigger the SOS signal error. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a workshop to diagnose and resolve the problem, as was done in this case, confirming a defective plug connection as the cause.

Call failure? I don't recall any. Could a defective cable or plug connection really cause all these symptoms?

Yes, a defective cable or plug connection can trigger the SOS signal error. If it's the same issue I had, it’s best to get it checked at a workshop. They will diagnose the control module. Is it worth risking ignoring the error?

Thank you for the advice. I had it checked, and it was indeed a defective plug connection, as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. All seems fine now.

Emergency call malfunction? Sounds familiar. I have an X Klasse as well, and had a similar issue with the telematics. Was there ever a call failure? Did they mention anything about a faulty control module?
