Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mercedes X Klasse experienced a rain-light sensor fault, affecting automatic wipers, headlights, and speedometer dimming. The suspected cause was bubbles forming under the windshield's gel pad, interfering with rain detection. A workshop confirmed this issue and resolved it by replacing the rain-light sensor, restoring all functions to normal.

Well, I've visually inspected the windshield around the sensor, and it looks like there might be some minor imperfections in the gel I haven't pulled anything apart yet though What was the cause of your similar problem What did you have to do

Ah, I see I wasn't comfortable enough to deal with the car electronics myself so I took it to a workshop They identified the rain-light sensor as the problem Replacing the sensor resolved it completely It's a tricky area with the windshield and all If you suspect the gel pad, it's best to let professionals handle it

Okay, thanks for the advice I'll book it in with a workshop Turns out you were spot on The workshop confirmed bubbles under the gel pad were causing the issue They replaced the rain-light sensor, and everything is working perfectly again The final repair cost was 62€ Appreciate the help

Interesting I have an X Klasse too and had similar issues with car electronics Are you certain about the bubble theory What steps have you taken so far to diagnose this sensor fault
