Thanks for the quick response! No, I haven't done an oil change on the transfer case specifically in a while. What exactly was the issue on your Micra when it was shifting poorly? Did changing the oil solve it, or was it something more serious like mechanical wear?

Turns out defective gears were the main culprit for me and new oil was not enough. Honestly, save yourself the headache and get it checked at a workshop. It's worth knowing for sure what's going on.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the gears in the transfer case, which caused the oil wear. Got it repaired for about 330€ and it runs smoothly now.

Sounds familiar! I've got a Micra too. Had a similar issue with unclean shifts. I'd check that transfer case oil ASAP. Have you done an oil change on it recently?
