Mini Cabrio Diesel Engine Issue

Alright, so my 2011 Mini Cabrio diesel is giving me headaches. The check engine light is on, and it feels like it's lost a ton of power. Engine response is terrible, and I'm pretty sure I'm burning more fuel than usual. From what I've read, it could be the manifold pressure sensor, maybe due to a large vacuum leakage. Any advice on what to check before I take it in?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Mini. Check engine light, the whole shebang. Was the power loss gradual, or did it happen suddenly? Did you notice any weird noises before this started?

The power loss was pretty gradual, I'd say. No weird noises that I noticed, though. Just the light coming on and the engine feeling sluggish. You really think it's the manifold sensor? I was hoping it was something less complicated!

Yeah, those symptoms sound exactly like what I went through. Save yourself the hassle and get the manifold sensor checked. Probably a good idea to have them look for vacuum leaks too while they're at it. Honestly, just take it to a workshop; messing with automotive sensors isn't worth the risk, unless you really know your way around an engine.

Just wanted to give you an update. You were totally right! Took my Mini Cabrio to the garage, and it was indeed the manifold pressure sensor. They did a sensor replacement and found a small vacuum leak too. Cost me 235€ all in, but at least the check engine light is gone, and it's running like new! Thanks again for your help.
