Mini Cabrio diesel engine stalling issue
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Mini Cabrio diesel is experiencing engine stalling issues, suspected to be related to the emission system. The problem might be caused by a faulty tank ventilation valve or clogged hoses. A suggested solution is to have a mechanic perform a smoke test to identify leaks in the EVAP system, and replacing the tank ventilation valve if necessary. The issue was resolved by addressing the clogged hoses and replacing the valve.

Yeah, the engine light is on. How did you figure out it was the tank ventilation valve? Was it hard to check?

My mechanic diagnosed the EVAP system issue. Apparently it's a common problem. I would suggest taking your car to a trusted shop. They can run a smoke test to pinpoint any leaks in the EVAP system. If it is the tank ventilation valve, replacing it should solve the problem.

Just wanted to close the loop. Turns out it was indeed the tank ventilation valve. The hoses were clogged just like you guessed. Got it fixed for 175€. Thanks for the help!

I had a similar problem with my Mini. Engine light would come on, and the engine stalled sometimes at idle. Have you checked your gas cap? A faulty seal can cause EVAP system leaks. That being said, it could also be the tank ventilation valve. Is the engine light on?
