Mini Cabrio engine issues
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Mini Cabrio was experiencing engine issues, including a check engine light, stalling when idling, and reduced power. The suspected cause was a defective fuel pressure regulator, potentially related to a recent fuel filter change. It was suggested that air in the fuel system or a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor could be contributing factors. The solution involved replacing the fuel pressure regulator, which resolved the issues and restored the car's performance.

Air in the fuel system makes sense. How exactly do I check the fuel rail pressure sensor? Is that something I can do myself, or am I better off taking my Mini Cabrio to a workshop?

Yeah, sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is the culprit. If you're not comfortable with diagnostics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Messing with the fuel system can be tricky. They can properly diagnose and replace the pressure sensor if needed. They'll have the right tools to ensure the fuel system is bled properly and you don't get any lingering engine misfire issues.

Sounds like a classic fuel pressure issue. When the fuel filter was changed, did you ensure no air got into the fuel system? Have you checked the fuel rail pressure sensor readings? An engine misfire could be triggered by that. It's like when your heart skips a beat because it's not getting enough blood.
