Mini Cabrio Sun Blind Defect

I am writing to you today with a rather vexing issue concerning my 2011 Mini Cabrio, a diesel model which has faithfully served me. Alas, the sun blind has become defective. It neither retracts nor extends, remaining stubbornly stuck in a single position. Compounding matters, the error memory has dutifully recorded this unfortunate event. From my research, it appears the motor of the sunblind is the likely culprit. I am curious if any other Mini owners have encountered similar difficulties and, if so, what course of action they pursued. I anticipate the eventual repair cost to be in the neighborhood of 330€.

Oh no, that sounds annoying! I hope I can assist you! Is the sun visor perhaps blocked by something? Did you already check if any objects are obstructing the mechanism? Maybe that would be the easiest solution, before considering more serious issues.

Thanks for your quick response! I checked for obstructions, but unfortunately, there's nothing blocking the car sunshade. It seems to be an internal issue with the motor itself. Do you have any further ideas what I could check myself before I have to go to the workshop?

Okay, if you already checked for obstructions, it probably is the motor. It's a common issue, I think. Sadly, I don't have any further ideas what you could check yourself. To be honest, I think you should visit a workshop to get it fixed. I assume that it will be difficult to replace the motor yourself without damaging other parts of the car interior.

Just wanted to give you an update. I followed your advice and took my Mini to the workshop. They confirmed it was indeed the sun blind motor that was defective. The repair cost me around 330€. Now the car sunshade works perfectly again! Thanks again for your help!
