Mini Cabrio Tailgate Sensor Issue

My 2019 Mini Cabrio has an issue with the automatic tailgate. It only opens partially, and I'm getting a "tailgate hall sensor fault" error in the memory. Could a defective cable or plug connection really be the cause?

I had a similar issue with my Skoda a while back. "Hall sensor" basically tells the car the position of something, in this case, the tailgate. Does the error message point to a specific sensor or just a general fault? Have you checked the sensor wiring and plug connection? Those are often the culprits.

The error message is pretty generic, just "tailgate hall sensor fault." I haven't checked the sensor wiring myself. Where exactly should I be looking for this sensor?

Yeah, it sounds similar to what I experienced. The sensor is usually near the tailgate motor. Honestly, given the error code and your description, it's likely a wiring issue. If you are not familiar with sensor calibration, it might be best to have a workshop take a look.

Just wanted to give an update. Took it to the shop, and they confirmed the tailgate hall sensor fault. Cable was indeed defective. 95€ later, the open tailgate works as it should. Thanks for your help.
