Vacuum lines, you say? Where exactly should I be looking? I'm not much of a mechanic. Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off taking the Mini Clubman to a professional?

The vacuum lines are usually small rubber hoses connected to the intake manifold. Visually inspect them for cracks or disconnections. But honestly, with those symptoms and the potential for further damage, it's best to get it diagnosed properly. A faulty automotive sensor can cause all sorts of headaches. Sensor replacement isn't always straightforward.

Got the Mini Clubman back from the shop. The manifold pressure sensor was indeed faulty. The sensor replacement cost me 235€. Seems to have fixed the issues. Thanks for the insight.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old Peugeot – check engine light, reduced power, the works. Turned out to be a faulty MAP sensor, caused by a large vacuum leakage. Have you checked for any obvious leaks in the vacuum lines?
