Mini Clubman engine power reduced dashboard light on
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Mini Clubman owner experienced a dashboard light indicating reduced engine power. The issue was suspected to be an error stored in the car's error memory. After using an auto scanner, it was revealed that the problem was due to faulty third-party chip tuning by a previous owner. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop to reset the car computer, resolving the issue and restoring normal engine performance.

Yeah, I used an auto scanner, and it gave me a code, but I don't know what it means. What did you do to fix your engine issue? Was it the same fault code?

The fault code I had indicated a problem related to third-party chip tuning. It seems someone had tried to boost the engine performance. If you are not familiar with the term, "chip tuning" refers to modifying or replacing the car computer's chip to alter the engine's settings. In my case, the tuning was faulty and caused the error. I'd suggest taking your Clubman to a trusted workshop to have them properly diagnose and potentially reset the car computer.

Dude, thanks so much for the help! I took my Clubman to a shop, and you were spot on. The error code was indeed from some chip tuning the previous owner did. They reset the car computer, and it's running like new now. Cost me 180€, but totally worth it to get rid of that annoying dashboard light!

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar engine issue with my Clubman a while back. Did you by any chance use an auto scanner to check the error code? Sometimes a simple vehicle diagnostics can give you a clue. The car computer stores the fault, so it should be readable.
