Mini Clubman Engine Trouble

I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2016 Mini Clubman diesel is throwing a check engine light. I'm also getting reduced engine power, lazy engine response, and the fuel consumption is definitely up. I scanned it, and it's showing a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. From what I've read, it's likely a defective crankshaft sensor. Anyone else experienced this? What am I looking at in terms of repair?

Sounds like you've got a crankshaft to camshaft correlation issue. When was the timing belt or chain last checked or replaced?

So, if it's the crankshaft sensor, is it okay to drive the car, or am I risking more damage? And how difficult is it to replace?

Yeah, the symptoms definitely point to the crankshaft sensor. Driving with that issue can potentially cause more problems with engine synchronization. I’d advise against driving it much. Replacement isn’t terribly difficult, but it's best left to someone who knows what they're doing, especially dealing with the timing chain and all. Expect to pay around 340€ at a workshop.

Just wanted to give an update. I took my Clubman to the shop, and you were spot on it was the crankshaft sensor! All fixed now, engine light is gone, and she's running like a dream. Thanks again for your help!
