Mini Clubman GPS Error

My 2011 Mini Clubman is throwing up a GPS error. The navigation system reports no GPS reception. From what I've gathered, it's likely a defective GPS antenna, which would cost around 200€ to replace. Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my Clubman's navigation system. Error messages and no GPS reception sound familiar. Before you replace the GPS antenna, have you checked the connection to the GPS module itself? Sometimes the connector gets loose or corroded. It's located near the antenna base, usually under the headliner. Also, is the vehicle GPS software up to date? An outdated version can sometimes cause these symptoms. Could also be the GPS module itself, but antenna is more probable, as you said.

Thanks for the info. Where exactly is the GPS module located? I'll check the connections before ordering a new GPS antenna. And how can I check which software version I have?

The GPS module location can vary slightly, but it's generally near the base of the antenna, often accessible by removing the interior light fixture or part of the headliner. You'll need to carefully pry it open. As for the software version, that's usually accessible through the car electronics settings in your infotainment system. If you are not comfortable with that I advise going to a workshop.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Took the Clubman to a local shop, and you were spot on. Replaced the GPS antenna, and now the satellite connection is solid again. Appreciate the insight!
