Mini Clubman Mirror Heating Problem

I'm having trouble with my 2013 Mini Clubman mirror heating. It's completely dead on both sides. I've noticed this particularly now the weather is getting colder. The error memory shows a fault, but I'm not sure where to start looking. The likely cause according to the error message is a cable or plug connection, but I don't really understand car electronics. Any ideas?

I had something similar with my Mini Clubman, although it was the passenger side car mirror. First, check the fuse box. A blown fuse can knock out the temperature control. If the fuse is fine, it's probably the wiring or the heating element itself. Have you checked the voltage at the mirror connector?

Voltage at the mirror connector? How do I check that? Is it difficult? I'm not sure I have the right tools for that. Also, where exactly is the fuse for the car mirror heating?

Yeah, you'd need a multimeter for that. If you're not comfortable with electrical fault finding, it's probably best to get it checked by a workshop. Better safe than sorry with car electronics.

Thanks for the advice. I've booked it in. Turns out the error memory was right. It was a defective plug connection. They sorted it for 95€.
