Mini Clubman rear ventilation problem

My 2021 Mini Clubman is giving me fits with the rear ventilation. I've got an error stored, the automatic climate is acting up, and the air conditioning isn't cooling like it should. From what I can gather, it's likely a defective cable or plug connection to the rear ventilation flap. The predicted repair cost is around 95€. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Seems like the car HVAC is not doing its job.

Rear ventilation flap huh? Sounds like a pain. If the air conditioning isn't cooling, and you've got an error stored, a dodgy connection makes sense. Electrical gremlins are the worst! I'd start by checking the basics - fuses, any visible damage to the wiring harness. Does the error code give you any more specific info?

Yeah, 'rear air distribution malfunction' is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Honestly, messing with the car HVAC system without proper tools or knowledge can be a real headache. Given what you've described, and the predicted cost is reasonable, I'd seriously consider taking it to a shop. They'll have the diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact issue with the rear ventilation flap and fix the cable or plug connection properly.

Good call on checking the basics. I did a quick visual inspection, but didn't dive too deep. The error code is pretty generic, something like 'rear air distribution malfunction'. Any tips on where to find the flap motor or the wiring harness for the rear ventilation? Is it accessible without tearing the whole interior apart?

Update on this rear vent issue on my Clubman. Turns out the cable to the flap motor was indeed the culprit, just like you suspected. A quick repair at the shop, and my automatic climate is back to blowing cold air again. Thanks for the help!
