Mini Clubman speed signal fault

I encountered a remarkably similar situation with my Mini Clubman. The symptoms you describe, including the ABS lamp illumination, traction control issues, and subsequent ABS system failure, resonate with my past experience. I would like to inquire whether you have inspected the ABS sensors located on each wheel hub. A faulty sensor can indeed trigger these errors. Additionally, it is plausible that the ECM is receiving erroneous data, potentially stemming from a transmission-related issue affecting the vehicle speed input. Has any diagnostic work been performed to ascertain whether the speed signal from the transmission is being accurately relayed to the ECM?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the sensors myself, not really my area of expertise. When you say transmission input, do you mean the actual gearbox or something else? The garage mentioned something about a control unit, but didn't go into much detail.

Affirmative, in my case, the issue was indeed the ABS control unit itself. The garage's assessment appears congruent with my experience. While it is prudent to investigate the sensors and transmission input, the control unit seems to be the most probable culprit. Given the complexities involved, I would recommend entrusting the diagnostic and repair procedures to a qualified workshop possessing the requisite expertise and diagnostic tools. It is imperative to ensure that the replacement control unit is correctly calibrated and programmed to your vehicle's specifications.

Just wanted to give you an update. Took the Clubman to the workshop, and you were spot on. They confirmed it was the ABS control unit. Cost me around 1000€ to get it sorted, but at least the ABS and traction control are working again. Thanks for the help!
