Mini Cooper Car Lighting Issue

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My gasoline 2018 Mini Cooper is throwing a fit with its car lighting. The lights are switching on seemingly at random, and I've got an error code stored. My initial thought is the light switch itself, maybe a faulty dimmer switch. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection is the culprit here. Has anyone else experienced this electrical problem? Before I start tearing things apart, any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds familiar! I had something similar with my Mini. The car lighting was acting up, dimmer switch going nuts. Have you checked the connections to the headlight switch? It's like a Christmas tree when one bulb is faulty; it can mess up the whole string.

You know, that’s a great analogy! Where exactly should I be looking for these connections? Is it something easily accessible, or am I going to need to take half the dashboard apart? Any tips on what to look for – corroded terminals, loose wires, that sort of thing?

Yep, sounds like the same gremlin I had! I fiddled with it for a bit, but honestly, I just took it to the shop. For me it was also the connector. They sorted it out quickly. Probably best to let the pros handle it before you accidentally make things worse.

Just wanted to close the loop on this light switch issue. Took my Mini Cooper in, and you were spot on it turned out to be a dodgy connector. They replaced the connector, and the car lighting is back to normal, no more errors. Cost me 95€. Thanks again for your help!
