Mini Cooper engine stalls at idle

I didn't specifically notice any difference in the air flow, but now that you mention it, the engine did seem to be running a bit rough before it started stalling completely. Was that your experience as well? How did you end up fixing it?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to mine. It started running rough, then started stalling at lights. It's like the car was trying to breathe through a straw! It was definitely the EVAP system acting up. Honestly, I tried a few things myself, but in the end, I just took it to a workshop. They ran a smoke test and found the leak pretty quickly. It was the charcoal canister in my case too. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional; it could save you a lot of time and frustration.

I'm so grateful for your help! It turned out you were spot on. The workshop confirmed it was a fuel tank ventilation system leak, caused by a defective activated charcoal filter. They replaced it, and the check engine light is off, and the engine idles smoothly now. The whole thing cost me 275€, but it's worth it to have my Mini running perfectly again. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Whoa, that sounds like the exact same thing that happened with my Cooper! I had the check engine light and the stalling too. Did you notice any difference in the air flow of the car?
