Mini Cooper IAT Sensor Problem

My 2011 Mini Cooper is throwing a check engine light and running rough. Car diagnostics points to a faulty intake air temperature sensor, which seems like the likely cause. Reduced engine power too. Error stored in the error memory. Anyone else run into this IAT sensor issue?

Check engine light and rough running on your Mini Cooper, eh? Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen a while back, though it was fuel related. What kind of temperature reading are you getting from the IAT sensor with car diagnostics?

The temperature reading seems off, but how can I be absolutely sure it's the temperature sensor itself and not something else causing it?

Okay, if the temperature reading is definitely off, and you've got all those symptoms, it's highly likely the IAT sensor. Could be wiring too, but a faulty sensor is the more common culprit. Honestly, for the price of a new sensor and the hassle of testing, you're probably best off just replacing it or taking it to the workshop.

Yep, turned out to be the IAT sensor. Replaced it and cleared the error code. Runs like new. Cost 155€, so not too bad. Thanks for the input.
