Yes, the check engine light came on and the engine misfired a couple of times. How did you solve the issue? Was it a simple sensor failure or something more complicated?

Yep, sounds like the same problem. I tried a few things myself, but honestly, I just ended up taking it to a workshop. Is that what you did? They ran some diagnostics and confirmed it was the camshaft position sensor causing all the trouble.

Thanks a lot for your help! After reading your experience I brought my Mini Cooper to a local workshop, and it turned out that the encoder wheel on the camshafts was defective. The mechanic replaced the camshaft sensor, and after a bit of engine control recalibration, the car is running smoothly again. 695€ was a bit steep, but at least it's fixed.

Oh man, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Mini Cooper not too long ago. Was the check engine light on? Did it feel like an engine misfire at all? For me, the camshaft position was all over the place, and it caused some real headaches.
